Don't Get Caught with A Dead Battery

If you have ever been stuck somewhere because your car wouldn’t start due to a dead battery, then you understand the importance of making sure your car battery is working properly. Below are two ways you can test your car battery before it leaves you stranded:

  • Multimeter- One way to test to see if your car battery is functioning properly is by using a multimeter. This instrument is relatively inexpensive and all you need to do is hook it up to your car’s battery while the engine is off and it will give you voltage readout. If the voltage is 12.66 volts or above your battery has a 100% charge, a voltage of 12.45 units means your battery has a 75%charge, and anything lower than 12.45 means your battery either needs to be recharged or replaced.
  • Auto Parts Store- One way to test your car battery is to drive to your local auto parts store. Most auto part stores will test your battery for free so it is not only convenient but also economical.
